Hey All!!
--
A huge shout out to all of you as we welcome you to Pravah Jaipur Initiative family.
“This
world demands the qualities of youth: not a time of life but a state of
mind, a temper of the will, a quality of imagination, a predominance of
courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of
ease.” — Robert Kennedy.
Pravah
Jaipur Initiative, an ancillary of Pravah Delhi, works with the youth
of Jaipur assisting them in their voyage to understand themselves,
internalizing social orientation and a regard for common spaces. We
believe that the way to engage people into having a deeper and further
horizon is to instill in them a respect for the journey and not only the
fruits. We encourage youth to shed old baggage, learn and unlearn. Like
walking the thin line between fun and work, social responsibility and
sacrifice, right and left, black and white, from ME to WE.
Pravah
Jaipur Initiative or PJI as we fondly call it, invites you to be a part
of our voyage. We present you some of our upcoming events.
Samvidhan LIVE - The Jagrik Project
We
believe ownership of common spaces is a crying need of the hour. We
believe ownership comes when you act in the real world, when you
co-create, when you see the consequences of your actions.
Com-Mutiny
– The Youth Collective’s and PJI latest public initiative, Samvidhan
LIVE - The Jagrik Project, will build young people’s capacities for
meeting this challenge as they refl-act (reflect+act) in the real world.
Using their experiential discoveries provided by a fun filled game,
played over six weeks in their own area, our young Jagriks will develop a
Jagrik report card (the citizens performance rating on keeping the
Samvidhan alive), as well as recommendations which they will share
through nationwide public events. These will also be shared with
Governors’ and President’s offices, with activists, civil society
representatives, media practitioners, policy makers and politicians.
There will be 40 + 1 public engagement events over the course of the
journey.
The public initiative will kick off on 26th November, celebrating Constitution Day and will culminate on Republic Day, 26th January, 2017.We
believe the project if adopted by youth across the country can act as a
robust reality check and should not be dismissed as just another
reality show.

International Citizen Service
International
Citizen Service (ICS) is an exciting three month volunteering programme
by Pravah and VSO; funded by the UK Government. The programme offers
volunteering opportunities to Indian and UK nationals. The programme
offers an opportunity to engage with social and developmental issues, to
effectively contribute in local communities and to develop personal
skills. ICS volunteers leave the programme as better-informed active
citizens with new skills for life – and to offer to potential employers.
The
ICS programme has multiple cycles around the year. Trainings for every
cycle are held one month prior to start of placement. The cycles will
start in July, September, October and November
Host community: Volunteers will be placed with a grassroots organisation in a rural community in India.
Counterpart Pairs: Each Indian volunteer will be paired with one counterpart from UK with whom they live for the 3 months in community.
Volunteers
have delivered education awareness peer education sessions in
government schools, Self Help Groups, youth groups, women and children’s
groups. These sessions were on issues of hygiene, sanitation, hand
washing, nutrition, sexual health and reproductive rights, menstrual
health, career planning and adolescent issues.
